Too small for an Old English Sheepdog, too big for a Shih Tzu…

I think my friend Jean, who attended dog shows as a child in Scotland, has identified Bode’s breed. He is the spitting image of a fawn bearded collie, especially now that his fur has grown in.

Whatever his ancestry, he has been a delightful companion and a comfort. It has been more than three weeks since Ling Ling died. After about two weeks of snoozing in mornings, he has taken on Ling Ling’s duty of getting me up in the morning. During the hot spell, we switched to taking walks early while it is still cool out.

Since I last posted, the peonies have bloomed and faded and now the roses are in bloom. We had a spell of hot, dry weather that reminded me of Salt Lake City, but then it broke over the weekend.

My mom’s iris plants were in bloom when we visited them last Friday:

It is still cool out, but to get close to 90 out today. Want to put in some marigold seedlings to see if they might discourage the little bunny who is very fond of nibbling lettuce and the flowers of the pansies I set in the ground.
