The day after the snow

Snow on country lane

I took a lot of pictures of the snow yesterday, just seemed to come down harder and harder. There was some slush on the grass but it melted off by late afternoon. When I opened the front door to take the picture, Ling Ling stuck his head out to sniff round and was immedately hit on the top of his head with an icy slush ball from the sky. He went back in and hasn’t seemed interested in going out since.

We were on the edge of a winter storm that hit Indiana county and cut power in counties east of here. Many people still don’t have power today. The power flickered off once yesterday, about twenty minutes after I shut the computer down. Need to get a UPS on order soon.

I baked a full recipe of Vienna bread after I posted yesterday. Made three loafs in a sheet pan and rolled one out and froze it for pizza crust.

This morning we had rain and there were some periods of sunshine this afternoon. It was spitting rain, but I hung some laundry out to dry anyway. Might have to finish them indoors, but they will smell fresh and be fluffy from the wind.

Around noon I looked out the west windows and saw a four point buck come down the hollow and cross Cribbs Road. I thought of leaving the window to get the camera, but didn’t want to step away and miss it. I later saw hoof prints in the mud at the side of the lane above the yard and dropings in the grass in the yard.

The fall colors are still bright.
