First frost

When I woke up a bit after 6 am the sky was clear and when I went out, discovered frost. Ling Ling needed to go out to investigate too.

He left his paw prints in the frost on the front step.

He went around to the back door and was good and ready to come in and get warmed up.

While I was out, could see a line of mist across the hollow, soon there was thick fog. By 10 am the sun burned it off and the rest of the day was warmer with clear blue skies. Glorious fall weather. Ling Ling went out without his leash several times. It went well except for once when he seemed determined to go in to the neighbor’s place. I am thinking it was just some Siamese crazyness because he found his way back to our door after that.

I did some cleaning and moving stuff around and measuring to see what would fit where. In the afternoon I ate on the front deck, where it was nice and warm in the sun, and hung some laundry out to dry.

Birch tree and lawn

It is quite pleasant to sit under the birch tree too. It had a larger partner (to the right of the photo) but it didn’t survive the microburst two years ago. I found more time to sit on the deck, having a yard takes some getting used to, haven’t had one since 1992.

My mom says the leaves should start to color in a week or two.
