First tomato

Single red tomato on plant
Another sign of summer, the first fruits of a feral tomato plant.
My mom gave me the seeds which were labeled “grape tomato” but of the three plants that sprouted, none looked like that. Guess the folks didn’t take into account cross pollination. The “domesticated” Roma tomatoes have larger fruit that is still green and the plants are not nearly so bushy.

I got a copy of the water testing results from my well today. The location is 40° 43′ 24", 79° 20′ 15" with an elevation of 1100 ft. I do check my log files, so if any tomatos come missing, I know who you are.

This morning there was a small brown finch trapped in the large bird feeder again. They seem to be looking for the last seeds and are unable to find their way back out. It was tired, but flew off when I opened the feeder to refill it. The finches are still enjoying seed from their Sierra-style feeder. Think I will invest in more of them.

I have been busy, although I did make a blog entry for my high school class site after the reunion. It was quite enjoyable. Still having some correspondence with classmates too. By the next reunion, hope we will be able to locate more people.

Five evenings last week I spent teaching some children songs. It was tiring but enjoyable. They had a lot better attitude about singing than most adults I have been dealing with lately.
