Summer and things are growing

First for the insects. Guess that is appropriate with the class reunion this weekend. John Martin wrote a skit in high school about predictions of where we were headed. My part consisted of carrying a protest banner that said UP WITH BUGS.

Insect at dusk
I saw this critter on the backrest of the weathered bench just outside the door on Sunday evening, thought it was quite handsome. The macro setting and flash seemed to work well.

Red insects on screen
I spotted these on a basement window on Monday morning when I was out on an errand with Bode.

Geranium and lobelia flowers
The tiny lobelia seeds I planted last spring are now blooming. These I paired with a geranium cutting in a pot for on the porch.

Sunflower
Just for the heck of it, I planted a couple of the black sunflower seeds I got to feed the birds. This one turned out quite well. Wish now I had planted more.

Tomato plant with green fruit
The tomato plants are doing quite well in the warm, humid weather.

I went out this afternoon to check the mail and decided to move the car further down the driveway to where Merle had already mowed the grass. Bode went along and then didn’t want to get out of the car! He looked like he felt cheated, guess he wanted to go visit the folks. It took some coaxing, but didn’t have to resort to biscuit bribes.

Sunset
It has been a while since I posted a sunset shot, so here it is. The skies cleared this afternoon after a couple rainy days.
