April Fools day is over

I was beginning to think it was a cruel joke, the president going around in Air Force One at taxpayer expense acting like it was another presidential campaign. At some point we need to consider if the skills to get elected are appropriate for running the country. It was a lot more reassuring to see footage of him at meetings in a tropical resort.

Bode in car

What we really did on April 1, after the usual Saturday morning chat and IM, was get into the car and visit my folks. Bode still likes to ride.

Daffodil bloom   more daffodils

Their daffodils were starting to bloom, especially the ones on the south side of their house. They have been thinning them and transplanting the extra bulbs all over their property. Locals now call their farm “the daffodil place” — was especially pretty when they still had sheep, people would stop to watch the lambs jumping and playing amongst the flowers.

Mother attended a banquet Saturday evening for the volunteers who work at a local thrift store. They met in the sanctuary at the Methodist Church in Rural Valley. As they were getting ready to go to the parish hall for the dinner, the speaker said there had been a slight change, they should make sure they had their purses along as there would be a fee. Once they were assembled at the tables, probably looking worried, the speaker shouted “APRIL FOOL!”

Lilac starting to leaf out

It was still warm out this morning and sunny following rain through the night. Saw the buds on the lilac bushes were starting to swell when I went out with Bode. I made buttermilk pancakes for breakfast, had the usual big mug of Ceylon tea with milk and sugar. Chased it with frozen strawberries. The bird feeder isn’t as busy as it was earlier in the season, but I spotted the first goldfinch of the season this morning.

Sounds like the washer is done and the whites are ready to hang out to dry. It isn’t as warm out as last week, but still pleasant spring weather.

Need to get going on my taxes. Wouldn’t want Dubya to run low on jet fuel.
